How did you feel when you learned it was all a lie?
by what_Truth? inbit of background.
i grew up as a jw i left the church when i was 14 because a ministerial servant who was conducting a one on one baptism study with me said that i couldn't ballance my dreams of being a professional singer with the so called "truth".
i stopped the study and told my mom i no longer wanted to be a witness.

My Fascination With Nicely Shaped Jugs
by Englishman inthis is a part of my collection.. the all-blue jug and the "pinch pot" below were made in a local pottery in the 1920's and are known as wesuma ware.
(weston super mare).
the others are all doulton lambeth ware from the late 1800's, well before the company came to be called royal doulton.

An uncle of mine gave my brother and myself all his old MAD mags, the first five years worth. When my bro. went to college, mom cleaned out his room and tossed them. What a shame, because they were soooo funny!
Now besides dust, I collect books. History, literature, art and reference. And James Michener first editions. My poor husband. When we moved, I had 80 cartons full. Books that is, not dust.

Motorcycles are no good
by one inthis is a new topic so not to contradict myself (bigdeal), with garbage i posted in a previous thread, started by bean.
contrary to what valis posted vague opinion, i still believe that the motorcycle is a reinvented glorified (no merit) bycicle.. i also beleive that it was reinvented by (or ordered by ) a lazy, or semiparilitic son of bin oil magnate.. i tell you anyone who do that to the ozone deserve to be called anything you want.. .
i mean the ozone was just fine until they found out that the liquidblackgoldmilkshake was good business.. .

Is it motorcycles, or any fossil fuel using conveyance?
how do you get to work? doctor? grocery store? yo mama's house?
yeah, it sux being one who contributes to the demise of the ozone layer, but till reliable affordable alt is available for the general public, what's a person to do?
Valis-you men always have had the 'pee advantage'. Gives me a whole new mental pix of a 'service station'.

illustrations that where false
by Grouper inhello everyone i am a new poster but have been lurking for quite some time, i wanted to know if any of you ever heard the following illustrations at meetings.
1) when i was a kid going to spanish meetings here in so cal i often heard speakers talk about satan being like a roaring lion ready to devour all humanity, then i would here the illustration of how lions hunt by roaring towards the ground this way the roar went everywhere and the prey would be easy pickings.
problem with this is once i studied in the fourth grade how lions hunt, found out lionesses are the ones that hunt and rely solely on stealth, ambush, the element of surprise to bring down their prey.

Welcome, Grouper!
You are correct in your understanding of how lions hunt. Your speaker was prolly counting on no one having actually looked it up.
On the brain thingy, I take it he was speaking bout the capacity for thought/memory/emotion? I don't think scientists have been able to really quantify the percent of resources used. Actually, we do use all of our brains, for running and regulating the rest of our body.
Here's a slogan the society is free to use - 'Brains - not just for thinking'

Special Happy Thanksgiving to those of you without family due to the WTBTS
by confusedjw ini know thinks would be very different for me, if my family wasn't out with me or if i was df'd or if some friends from the hall didn't stay in touch or if i hadn't been able to make other friends.. i know that for some of you, the holiday season stinks because of being in limbo or being df'd and not making new friends yet or other reasons all related to the wtbts.. maybe you are alone without your family.
that is terrible knowing that in general this is a day that family is celebrated.. a huge (((hug))) to you then.
my apologies that life is like that for you this moment and i hope happiness runs you down and overtakes you very soon!.

"This is my family. I found it on my own. It's small, and broken. But it's still good."
Yeah, still good.
Please tell me why I can't stop crying...
Because you have a genuine, loving and human heart. Rejoice that you still feel.
Hugs, and Happy Thanksgiving.
